Profoundly Deepen the Way You Pay Attention to Another

We see each other through the lens of our mind’s eye. This is what we believe seeing to be. It is our habit. Seeing through the largely unrecognized opaqueness of the opinions and requirements of our mind. As such, most of what we experience of another is our conclusion. Our idea of the person. Our story.

We seek to connect with those around us, knowing that it’s somehow important. It is perhaps our deepest yearning, to see and to be seen, but we approach it in entirely the wrong territory. If we connect in the realm of understanding and ideas, we are connected to our idea of another. And that idea will move, and the connection will break. Such is the nature of ideas.

There is a way of seeing another beyond any act of the mind. A seeing with awareness. It involves recognizing our habit, and subtracting all that we’ve placed in the space between us. It leads to the knowing of the deep interior of another. An experience of a person’s soul. It leads to a recognition that we are a part of this same life and that we’ve always been connected.

Such experience happens on occasion between people, mostly by accident, but it could happen more readily and consciously. It could happen on purpose. Imagine a world in which we were to catch sight of such an inner view of another, and realize that it was a living reflection. Imagine how we might be caused to act. Together, and on behalf of each other.

I can show you this. I can show you how to catch sight of the inner view of another. I can show you how to see the human soul.

This way, which I refer to as Inner View, is a revolutionary act of unconditional attention. It is a profound way to witness the interior realm of a person – the Human Soul. It causes a direct experience of interconnectedness, belonging and conscious insight. It allows the subject to speak with an original, courageous and conscious voice. It is an experiential change in the way we see. A realization of our innate capacity to experience others with awareness and without condition.

My intention here is that after these few immersive hours, you’ll be well placed to practice paying profoundly useful attention to those around you.
